Owen had his 15 month well-baby check up today. Everything was fine until the doctor walked in and Owen just started screaming then ran and hid underneath my chair. Apparently he remembered the doctor from his last visit and was not as inclined to let the doctor check him over. It was a struggle to get him to cooperate, but we managed. He was a real pill when the nurse came in to give him his FOUR shots! He is a strong boy and it took a lot for me to hold him down. It is always so sad and hard to watch my babies get shots. I would do it for them if I could--- I guess I will always feel like that with them, always wanting to take away their pain. All I can do is give him extra loves.
I feel like I should really educate myself better about vaccinations. Today they gave him something new that they are trying and I wonder how effective all of these are. I mean, I am not going to turn into a mom that doesn't have her kids vaccinated but I need to get a little more educated about what I am letting people inject into my children.
Anyway, here are the stats: Owen is 33" tall and 26.5 pounds. He has really gotten lean and is now in the 75th percentile. I would have thought higher on the height but apparently not. Though I think he is due for a growth spurt again here real soon.

Poor guy; I always hate it when they have to get shots too - yuck! How funny that he ran under the chair! That's called s-m-a-r-t!
That is so sad. It's so hard to have to force your kids to get their check ups. I always feel like I have betrayed my son.
You are right about getting educated about vaccinations. I will keep this in mind for Max's 18 month check up.
Poor guy! Regarding vaccines, a thought I always keep in mind is you can always put the vaccine in, but you can never take it out. You DO NOT have to follow the "recommended" schedule. You can also pick and choose which ones you want. Just remember your doctor is in service to you (because you are paying him/her), don't let them bully/scare you into a vaccine until you have researched it. They are definitely not the know all/be all about vaccines.
